Importing European Industrial Equipment from US, UAE & Asia

A practical reference for non-EU procurement teams sourcing European-made motors, drives, sensors, brakes and process equipment through Equipta.

Why source from Europe

  • Engineering quality. German precision, Italian niche specialization, Swiss reliability across categories where Asian alternatives don't meet automotive / pharma / energy spec.
  • ATEX + IECEx. European hazardous-area certifications are universally accepted in oil & gas, mining, chemical sectors.
  • EU CE marking. Pre-validated EMC, low-voltage and machinery directives streamline your own certification.
  • Long product lifecycles. 10-15 year spare-parts availability is standard for European industrial brands.

Incoterms — what they mean for your landed cost

IncotermWho pays freight?Who clears customs?
EXW Ex WorksBuyerBuyer (EU export + import)
FCA Free CarrierBuyerSeller (EU export), Buyer (import)
CIP Carriage Insurance PaidSellerSeller (export), Buyer (import)
DAP Delivered at PlaceSellerSeller (export), Buyer (import duty only)

Equipta defaults to DAP for non-EU buyers — we handle EU export documentation, freight booking and delivery to your specified port/door. You pay only your country's import duty and VAT/sales tax.

Documentation you'll receive

  • Commercial invoice in EUR with HS commodity codes and EU origin declaration.
  • EUR.1 movement certificate — qualifies for preferential duty under EU trade agreements (UK, Israel, Egypt, S. Korea, Singapore, etc.).
  • Packing list with weights, dimensions and case marks.
  • CE Declaration of Conformity + original manufacturer test certificate.
  • ATEX / IECEx certificates if applicable.
  • Manufacturer datasheet in English (additional languages on request).

Typical import duties

  • United States — Electric motors (HS 8501): 2.5%–5.3% depending on power class. Sensors (HS 9032): 1.7%. Bearings (HS 8482): 9%.
  • UAE — Standard 5% customs duty on most industrial categories. VAT 5%.
  • Singapore — 0% duty on industrial machinery. GST 9%.
